We, as so many others, will be feasting on Thursday. With five cooks (and a little “help” from the smallest fry), we have the menu pretty well covered:
Green Onion and Parmesan Hot Dip with veggies and chips
Roast Wild Turkey (courtesy of hubby, since granddaughter missed the first one in line — she says she’s going to get the Christmas goose instead)
Oyster Dressing/Sausage-Pecan Dressing
Mashed Potatoes with Giblet Gravy
Green Bean Casserole (this is the Cooks Illustrated version, which is light-years away from anything that uses canned cream of mushroom soup)
Butternut Squash
Tossed Green Salad
Fermented Green Tomato Pickles
Rolls with honey and butter
Pecan Pie
Pumpkin Pie (assuming I get the pumpkins peeled and pureed by Thursday morning!)
Dutch Apple Pie
The bulk of these offerings were grown or raised on the ranch, for which we will be doubly thankful. Happy Thanksgiving!
